The long journey began with Christmas lunch in L.A. with Will & Stacey

Our trip began with an overnight in L.A., so it was the perfect time to celebrate the holidays with our son, Will McAuley, and his partner, Stacey Peck. They chose a beautiful, delicious spot for lunch at Shutters Hotel on the beach in Santa Monica, after which we opened our presents sitting on a boardwalk bench nearby. The weather was gorgeous and all of us had a fine time. Afterwards, they dropped us off at LAX for our Thai Airways overnight flight to Bangkok, with a quick connection, also on Thai Airways, to Chiang Mai. We left LAX about 10 pm Saturday, Dec. 19th and arrived in Chiang Mai about 9:10 am Monday, Dec. 21st. As in the past we found the service, food, and comfort (even in coach) to be far better on Thai Airways than any U.S. carrier. Thus, our choice to fly to L.A. first, then start the foreign travel on Thai.

  1. Scottie, Thank you for the pictures of a place I have never visited. Thailand is a very beautiful place. I hope your time there is exciting and a continuing learning experience. It was also nice to see the pictures of your son and his friend. He is a very nice looking young man. Happy New Year, Bev Gage
